The process

Once you have placed your order we will subsequently be in touch to invite you to send us your original curriculum vitae (if indeed you have one already) together with details of the job you are targeting and anything else that you consider relevant. If you have a job specification that you particularly want to target then please also send this and we can subsequently tailor/optimise your CV to the job in question. You can wait for us to contact you about this, or alternatively please feel free to send us the above information direct. In most cases we will contact you within one hour of ordering, unless you place your order out of hours.

If your current CV is out of date, or you do not have a current CV, then that is not a problem. We are used to this and we usually rewrite CVs from scratch anyway. So even if you already have a CV you can expect something different, and frequently radically different. The main reason for this is that no one ever sends us a CV that is not flawed in one way or another. Indeed, the vast majority of the CVs that we receive can be improved on numerous levels. Given the fact that mere updates/edits are never enough to do the job properly we find that the best way to give you the strongest possible curriculum vitae is by going back to the drawing board and recreating your CV bottom up. Of course, all this does take more time and effort on our part, but this is something we are used to and it is needed if you want the best results.


With the above in mind, and also bearing in mind that top quality invariably does take time, we do ask clients to give us sufficient time to do the job properly. Our customers are experienced seasoned professionals who usually fully understand and appreciate this already, and permit us to work methodically at our own pace. Of course, we do appreciate that you will still want your CV back in a relatively timely manner, and we do aim to accommodate this. In most cases we will return your CV in MS Word format (PDF if required) within 12 to 15 working days. At the same time, we are also conscious of the fact that some clients will be applying for jobs with a short deadline. If this applies to you then simply take out the priority service option, and inform us as to your deadline. We can usually work to shorter deadlines, at the same time, the fact does remain that the more time you permit us to work on your behalf the better it is for you.

Liaising with your consultant

Once you have sent us your information your consultant (either Paul or Rachel ) will examine this and let you know if we need anything else. Frequently, we find that we do need more information, and one main reason for this is that amongst other things the vast majority of clients tend not to sell themselves as much as they can on their original CV. Given the fact that executive jobs are extremely competitive, you really need to sell yourself to the optimum, and this is something your experienced consultant will be able to guide you and advise on. Similarly, there may be other issues, anomalies and inconsistencies or areas that need more explanations or details. If so then your consultant will let you know.

Please note that this is also an ongoing, and potentially iterative two-way process. Notably, we do encourage you to let us know if you have any questions or queries as well as just any other information you want to impart.

Do you have to send more information?

No, it's entirely up to you if you want to send us more information or not. Some clients just send us their initial CV and ask us to work with that alone. In which case we do just that.

At the same time, if we ask for more information it is always for your benefit, and not just for the sake of it. The reasoning behind this requirement gathering process is essentially the fact that we want your applications to succeed. With this in mind the more ammunition you supply the better. Some companies just rework your initial information, and tweak the formatting etc. This usually isn't very effective, which is why we go beyond this. As mentioned, at executive/director level it is extremely competitive, and your CV needs to be more impressive/powerful/persuasive than that of your competitors. We are used to assisting clients achieve just this, but it does help our common cause when the client also plays a part.

Even if you don't send any more information, at the very least we usually add additional suggestions of our own to further substantiate your curriculum vitae. At the same time, if you do send more information then frequently we find that this enables us to add yet more value, making your CV stronger still.
